Zoë: Yeah, I can swing my apples. Listen. Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

Me: Do you mean “roll your Rs?”

i don’t even know what you’re talking about…

Either do I. I want to say it’s cute, but I don’t get it!

She was just referring to “rolling her Rs” as “swinging her apples.” I’m not sure where she got the phrase from. I guess “rolling” and “swinging” are vaguely similar verbs but, as for “apples,” who knows…

Some of my voice students cannot, whatever I say, learn to roll their “r’s.” Perhaps “swinging your apples” just makes more sense to certain people. I might just try that…

It’s definitely cute, then, Grettir. She hereby gets an “A” for “awww”.

It just occurred to me that she was referring to her “adam’s apple”… don’t know … just a thought.
