The other day, the girls and I were doing a 1000-piece puzzle of the Muppets, and we had the The Muppet Show Season One DVD playing in the background to help set the Muppet mood.
At one point, Emma looked up at the TV and asked, “Dad? Is that Jack Black?”
This is who she was referring to:

I think I always confused Avery Schreiber with Gene Shallot who bears a resemblance to Vince Guaraldi who, in this photo resembles a moustached older brother of David Sedaris.
And you will notice that NONE of them are EVER in a room at the same time…
Coincidence? I think not.
By the way, regarding your Jane Austen Tidbit, she is much more economical at Archie McPhee®, where you can choose from a wondrously diverse selection of action figures, including Marie Antoinette, Wagner, The Avenging Unicorn Play Set, The Albino Bowler, and the DELUXE Jesus Action Figure.
Yes, Kate, it may be cheaper elsewhere, but when you purchase the item from Signals you’re helping to support Public Broadcasting.
Purchasing the item from Archie McPhee simply mocks the pain of pigment-impaired sportsmen everywhere.
Forget her! An action figure Jesus! lol! .. But isn’t it just a little sacreligious to have a DELUXE Jesus vs. an apparently non-deluxe, PLAIN Jesus? When is perfection more deluxe than perfection? And I think I want the plain Jesus more, with “..wheels in his base for smooth gliding action.”
You know, I’ve always thought that for a man undoubtedly perfectly integrated with his manly, logical side and womanly, compassionate side, the Elegant Sashay (as you may remember Michael Caine coaching Sandra Bollock to do in Miss Congeniality) may not have ever been far from possible. Apparently, I’ve underestimated matters.
Excellent companion piece: this shirt.
Apparently, my husband belongs to that “Jack Black Look Alike Club.” He gets people biking by yelling that he is Jack Black. He gets kids whispering to each other that he looks like Jack Black.
He has a pretty good impersonation too.
*Note – He is not as chubby as Jack Black and has no mustache.
But action figures are TRIBUTES to characters! They do not MOCK the Albino Bowler, they esteem and HONOUR him!
Kylie: does he have any wrestling skills? If so, maybe he could hire-out for birthday parties and bar mitzvahs.
Hm, this is a good idea. He has 6 younger siblings, so yes, he has wrestling skills.
I used to teach English in Japan a couple years ago… I took my Jesus Action Figure (Plain, not Deluxe) into some of my lessons. I would say, “Who is this guy?” Without fail, each and every time, the first answer was, “This is Osama Bin Laden?”
Oh, laws.
(and lol)
I thought this was the sign of the apocolypse #367!
you’re right, Avery and Jack Black do look similar, but hurray for you for buying the first season of “The Muppet Show”
